Marine

Last updated: 14/12/2009 // Aquaculture has become a priority in Vietnamese government policies for the sector. There is thus significant potential for Norwegian companies delivering equipment, fish feeding, and know-how to the aquaculture sub sector. However, there is strong competition in this sector.

The processing industry is rapidly developing in the country. Today, about 270 plants qualifies for export to the EU market. There will continue to be a very significant scope for delivery of equipment and know-how to the processing industry.

Norwegian companies within the marine sector can increase their market shares through technology transfer and increased commercial cooperation. The following activities present a proposal for sub sectors where more cooperation should be initiated:

• Increased bi-lateral trade on seafood
• Sea-farming development
• Vietnam Pangasius surplus utilization
• Production of aqua-feeds
• Vaccines for farmed fishes
• Fisheries cooperation
