Climate Change
Environment and climate change cooperation are becoming important parts of the bilateral relations between Norway and Vietnam. Vietnam is one of the countries most at risk of natural disasters, and it will become increasingly vulnerable, due to the effects of climate change.
The Government will allocate NOK 27.1 billion (USD 4.6 billion) to the fight against poverty in 2011. Increased efforts to promote clean energy and support adaptation to climate change will put a stronger focus on climate change. Read more
Vietnam is about to enter a second phase in its efforts of reducing green house gas emissions from deforestation through the UN-REDD programme. The province of Lam Dong has been a pilot site for phase 1 of this project, and was the host of the Norwegian delegation that visited Vietnam in September. Read more
