The “Group of Four” (G4), which consists of Canada, New Zealand, Norway and Switzerland, has cooperated on development and human rights issues in Vietnam since 2001, with a particular focus on ethnic minorities and religious groups. The group travels on an annual basis to various areas in Vietnam to meet with local counterparts and to follow up country-specific projects.
In the beginning of November, the G4 travelled to Ho Chi Minh City and surroundings to learn more about the situation for internal migrants in Vietnam’s largest urban area. The visit was also an opportunity to engage with several development partners and local stakeholders in the South of Vietnam, and through meetings with city authorities, religious leaders, civil society actors, former refugees, street children and internal migrants, the G4 was given insight and interesting perspectives on a number of issues relevant for development and human rights.
