Strengthening cooperation in trade and investment

24/03/2010 // United under the banner ”Strengthening cooperation between Norway and Vietnam in trade and investments” core Norwegian companies met with Vietnamese authorities in Hanoi 24th of February

– Norway succeeding in Vietnam is a two-way success and a common goal.

With these encouraging words Deputy Prime Minister Huang Trung Hai opened the business dialogue between Norway and Vietnam in Hanoi. The business dialogue had several purposes; one was highlighting challenges Norwegian companies face in Vietnam, another was to be a partial preparation for DPM Mr Hai’s upcoming visit to Norway. The visit aims at strengthening bilateral relations in trade and investment.      

 

Future development

Norway’s Ambassador Ståle Risa pointed out the many similarities and common interests shared by Vietnam and Norway:

– We are both countries with exceptionally long coastlines and share many similar resources. Vietnam has made extraordinary progress the last decades, and Norway has vital knowledge and technology for future development in core Vietnamese sectors.  

 

Successful dialogue

The successful business dialogue was hosted by The Royal Norwegian Embassy, Innovation Norway and the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA). The session showed strong presence from Vietnamese authorities’ – four vice-ministers and several officials and experts. Many Norwegian companies were also present. Despite the global financial crisis, Norwegian companies are showing great and increasing interest in Vietnam which is considered a market with great potential.
