No other activity is better equipped in bringing people closer together than cultural activities.
In fact, there seems to be an especially strong mutual attraction between the performers of contemporary arts, music and theatre in our two countries. A string of Vietnamese-Norwegian art exhibitions have been arranged both in Vietnam and Norway the since the late 1990s and a Norwegian-Vietnamese sculpture centre was opened in Danang in 2003. Several Norwegian jazz musicians have visited Vietnam during the last few years giving concerts in Hanoi, HCM City and participated in the European Jazz Festival, as well as giving workshops at Hanoi Conservatory of Music. Vietnam Dramatic Theatre has taken an interest in staging plays by the famous Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen. The Norwegian Embassy is working togehter with Vietnam Writers Association introducing Norwegian literature to Vietnamese readers, and the Embassy has supported The Gioi Publishing House editing a comprehensive book about Norway in Vietnamese.
