Peer Gynt by Henrik Ibsen in Vietnamese

19/12/2006 :: Peer Gynt by the Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen (1828-1906) was translated to Vietnamese and published in Vietnam 2006. Peer Gynt was written in 1867, and for the first time translated to Vietnamese in 1977. The new translation is done by Tam Thanh and Khanh Ha, and the book is introduced by Lars Roar Langslet.The book was re-published as part of the Ibsen Festival 2006. The year 2006 marks the 100th anniversary of Henrik Ibsen's death, and the Ibsen Festival has gone all over the world this year.

Peer Gynt is a satirical fantasy in verse about the Norse folklore figure. Peer Gynt is one of the first anti-heroes in modern drama. Although the the story has its origin in Norwegian folklore, the action takes place in Norway, Morocco, the Sahara Desert, Cairo and at sea.
