Shopping

You may want to purchase a special souvenir of your visit to Norway. In many cities and villages you will find shops that specialise in traditional arts and crafts as well as new designs inspired by tradition.

Typical Norwegian souvenirs include knitted sweaters, hats, gloves and mittens, silver, porcelain, rose-painted or carved wooden objects, goat and reindeer skins, woven rugs, furs, needlework, glass, crystal and ceramics.

Tax-Free shopping is a system whereby tourists can have the VAT on their purchases refunded. There are approximately 3000 shops that provide this service in Norway. Look for the Tax-Free shopping sign whenever you shop for NOK 310 (approx. EUR 39) or more.
